About
Built by Demand
HistoRacks Inc. was established in 2019, but not as a sectioning service.
Our name comes from our original business: designing and manufacturing histology staining slide racks. At the time, we were building HistoRacks Inc. on the side while continuing to work in preclinical histology laboratories—a field we had worked in since 2008.
Sectioning was already a major part of our everyday work. We saw firsthand what happens when a large, sectioning-intensive study enters a conventional histology laboratory. A study requiring 10,000 or 15,000 slides can quickly consume available microtomy capacity and become a bottleneck, particularly in laboratories where technicians rotate between processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and other responsibilities.
When we left our laboratory positions in 2020, our intention was to focus on HistoRacks Inc. as a histology products manufacturer.
Our clients had a different idea.
Sectioning Became Our Specialty
That history continues to define how we operate today.
Rather than treating microtomy as one step among many laboratory services, we have built our operation around it. HistoRacks Inc. specializes in taking on the sectioning workload that can overwhelm the normal workflow of a histology laboratory.
Our strongest area is demanding preclinical CNS work, particularly studies involving large numbers of brain, spinal cord, and other nervous system sections. High-volume studies requiring thousands—or tens of thousands—of slides are exactly the type of work we want to take on.
What may represent a major sectioning bottleneck for a conventional laboratory is the work our operation was built to handle.
Where We're Going
HistoRacks Inc. exists today because there was a demand for specialized sectioning capacity. That demand shaped our company, and it continues to shape where we are going.
Our goal is to become the go-to sectioning resource for preclinical laboratories: a specialized partner they can rely on when a study requires more sectioning capacity than they can reasonably accommodate internally.
As HistoRacks Inc. grows, we intend to add services that support that mission—not simply to become another full-service histology laboratory, but to help our clients move from embedded tissue to finished slides as efficiently as possible.
Demand for large-study sectioning made HistoRacks Inc. what it is. We intend to keep building around it.
